A2 and B2 Milk
A2 Milk: Benefits
A2 milk comes from cows that produce only the A2 beta-casein protein (common in indigenous breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, or certain Jerseys and Guernseys). It differs from regular milk, which contains a mix of A1 and A2 proteins.
Health Benefits of A2 Milk
-
Easier Digestion
-
A2 milk is gentler on the stomach for some people. It lacks A1 beta-casein, which breaks into BCM-7 (beta-casomorphin-7)—a peptide linked to digestive discomfort and bloating in sensitive individuals.
-
May help people with perceived “lactose intolerance” who might actually be sensitive to A1 protein, not lactose.
-
-
Reduced Risk of Inflammation
-
Some studies suggest that A1 protein may trigger mild inflammation or immune responses in the gut; A2 protein avoids this effect.
-
-
Supports Cognitive and Heart Health
-
By avoiding BCM-7 production, A2 milk may reduce risks associated with cardiovascular and neurological effects (still under investigation).

-
More Natural for Human Consumption
-
Human breast milk contains only A2-type beta-casein. This similarity suggests A2 cow’s milk may be closer to what human systems tolerate well.
